The doctor called during surgery and said Gypsy would have to be put to sleep. She was only four years old. I can't take this. I feel so sick and sad. I don't know what else to say.

Oh God.

This afternoon, I was sleeping, and then Gypsy started screaming and woke me up. I'd never heard her cry like that before. She pulled herself out of the room and hid in a corner of the bathroom. When I tried to touch her, she growled at me. I could tell that one or both of her hind legs didn't look good. I called Harry at work, but he couldn't say much, because he was at the office, and he wasn't allowed to leave. This afternoon, Uncle John took Harry and Gypsy to an animal hospital. We just now got a call from Marji saying that Gypsy has a cracked spinal column, and she's being taken to a hospital in Pennsylvania for emergency surgery. The operation could cost between $3000 and $5000, and Harry is in debt. If she doesn't have the surgery, she could die tonight. Oh my God, I hope she's okay. :(

Ugh. So that thing I said about getting a work study job for June, I guess I can forget about it. Yesterday, the lady on the phone told me I had the job and to start work today. Another lady woke me up at 8:30 this morning and told me basically that they took the job from me and I was supposed to come in and interview for it today. I've already done that. Apparently about five other people applied and so that just takes everything away from me for some reason. So I interviewed. Actually, there was no interview. I put envelopes in a typewriter and typed addresses onto them, and then they took them from me and said they'd get back to me later this week. But they were kind of insulting to me, and so I was kind of insulting to them. I couldn't help it. I'm sure they couldn't either. Eck. I'm sure I don't get it now. I'll keep checking for other work study jobs, I guess. :(

So today, I went with my uncle to get new tires on his car, and then they told him to get new brakes, so he did and it took a million years. Anyway, he was hungry, so we stopped and got McDonalds, and they gave us a Clementon Park coupon with our food. This is a normal occurrence this time of year. We always get our Clementon Park coupons from McDonalds. Anyway, the coupon had an ad for a new roller coaster at the park. (!!!) This is really only a big huge deal, because Clementon Park is extremely dinky and has few rides (but I love them so!). They had only one coaster, the Jack Rabbit, since they were built. It's one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the country. So this new one, called the Tsunami is "featuring the steepest vertical drop on any wooden roller coaster in North America." I am so proud for them and excited for me. ^_^

Hell froze over twice today! Hoo-ray!

I finally have a cell phone. I never thought I'd see the day, but then I saw today, so it is so. {g} I haven't activated it yet, and I need to call the good people at AT&T and tell them that I'd rather have a New Jersey number than a Pennsylvania number, but that's no trouble.

Also, I just nailed down a work study job! I start tomorrow and finish on the last day of June. I didn't think I'd get anything, because IWS jobs seem harder to get, and time was running out. I only wanted to work on days that I have class, which starts next week. It's primarily a typing job, which I've never done before. I mean I've typed before (duh), but never for the $. I hope I'm okay at it. Anyone who reads this surely must think I'm the smelliest typist ever. I must try not to be nervous. Wish me luck.

Oh, and a very happy birthday to Colleen! Yay! :)

Atlantic City was okay. Harry and Marji had dinner with me and Uncle John, and then they gambled some and left. I lost $15, but none of it was mine. On Friday around noon, my uncle and I were walking along the boardwalk, and we saw a couple cats. This isn't a big deal, because boardwalk cats are fairly common, but not so much so, when it's crowded. Anyway, I'm someone who thinks cats are a big deal, so I wanted to get a closer look. It turns out that there's this whole cat community living under the boardwalk across from the Taj Mahal. There was a lady down in the sand feeding them. I bet she does that all the time. My uncle counted thirteen cats, three of which looked very pregnant. They seemed to be doing pretty well down there. I'm surprised the casino people didn't chase them away; I hope they don't. I wanted to jump down there and start stuffing cats in my purse and pockets, but I wasn't allowed. {g} I wish I had my camera with me, though. I'd never seen that many cats in one place, just chillin'. After that, we walked down to the Hilton and back and had lunch at the most gimmicky restaurant I've ever been to in my whole life. This place makes the stupid Planet Hollywood look like my kitchen or something. {g} Of course I'm talking about the Rain Forest Cafe. I guess that place is the awesomest, if you're like eight years old or something, but I'm eight-times-three and my uncle is eight-times seven, so we weren't that into it. It's very expensive, because you pay for the decor. Well, I consider $11 for a chicken club sandwich where the fries cost extra to be pretty expensive. The inside has all these fake trees and there was an animatronic gator near the entrance. There were also robotic gorillas and frogs and stuff. The ceiling was made to look like a night sky with little glittery stars and some clouds, which I noticed changed from blue to pinkish at times. As soon as you go in, they tell you that every half hour or so, there's a thunderstorm (about five seconds of loud noises), so don't let it scare you. :p The waitpeople are dressed up as tour guides. The only thing about the whole place that I found really cool were that there were a bunch of fish tanks in there. When you go from the waiting area to the seating area, there's a huge doorway that's a fish tank filled with angelfish and other kinds of fish I can't identify. We were seated near a really big tank. On the way out, there's a giftshop, and I bitched about how they were selling plush giraffes and elephants, since those animal do not live in the rainforest. :P Oh, and the menu was full of super corny, gimmicky drink names, like a cheetah rita. Blar. The fish were really neat, but the rest was very unnecessary, say I. Now I never have to go back there ever again, because, while my food was good, it was never worth it. On the way back we looked at the kittens again, and I still wasn't allowed to sneak any home. Let's all get together and drive to Atlantic City and grab some kittens, okay?

So today I had dinner at another restaurant (yeah, we go to a lot of restaurants), and I really liked the waitress. And not just in a "thank you for refilling my soda before I have to ask you" way, but in a "cool person" kind of way. I wish I could, like, make friends with her. She reminded me of Jaye from Wonderfalls, which is a good thing. I even heard her tell someone else who worked there that she doesn't have many friends, therefore she should be my friend. {g} I don't know how to go about setting that in motion. Is that even possible? Does anyone ever make friends with their waitress? I sound like I have a girlcrush on her, but I really think we'd get along. {g} I have no idea how one initiates friendship.

I got a letter in the mail yesterday from Nintendo Power. It was all about how I should renew my subscription, so I can get a free guide or shirt or other present related to the new Zelda Four Swords game, which comes out next month. I really wish Nintendo hadn't decided to branch out and make this game. The idea of a multiplayer Zelda game bothers me. I don't have anyone else to play it with me, so I'd never get the most out of it, and I hate knowing that. Supposedly, I could play all four Links by myself, but that sounds irritating. I don't even know much about this game at all, but since it's a Zelda game, I'm already very interested. I'm still annoyed about the Link to the Past/Four Swords GBA game. With that, you can't play Four Swords at all as one player, which is an even bigger drag. I will never in my life get to see that game, even though I own it. Hiss. The only people I know nearby with videogames have PS2s and X-Boxes, and that's no help to me at all. Blah.

I volunteered today, and I'm glad I got home early. I was really tired, and I got to take a nap. Before leaving the city, I bought the new Tori Amos DVD. I'm listening to the bonus CD now, and I'll probably watch the DVD later tonight. I am a thrifty egg, so I bought it at the store in the mall that sold it for the least amount of money.

My summer class starts in two weeks, and I'd like to do a work study job during that time, since I'll be at school anyway. I finally found something I could apply to, and I already did apply. But I think that it's FWS only and not IWS. Problem is, I know I can get FWS in the fall and spring, but I have no idea about the summer. I'll have to call and ask tomorrow before calling the woman back. Assuming she wants to hire me for the job anyway.

Neko Case was awesome times a million last Sunday at the Bowery Ballroom and she was equally sparkly. It was very different from my previous experiences of seeing her at the much smaller, more relaxed Tin Angel. Lots of fast songs and lots of new songs. I'm looking forward to her live album and her next studio album, even though they are far, far away. After the show, I bought a Sadies CD. I'd been meaning to look into them anyway, and the CD was only $10, and since they were a great back-up band for Neko, I couldn't not buy it. I have listened to it yet, but it irks me that I got one with a cracked jewelcase. That's always the way. Grr.

Oh no. Tony Randall died. :(

I feel really bad about that. I was a big fan of his, when I was in high school. I'd tape the Odd Couple and I loved it when he was on the Late Show and Late Night, among other things. I'd always wanted to go to New York City, and the first time I got to go, when I could finally convince my uncle to bring me, was when we went to see him and Jack Klugman in The Sunshine Boys. We were even in the front row. It was my high school graduation present, and it was the biggest deal to me.

{sigh} :(

I went to the hospital this morning for the blood test. I didn't feel nervous at all, and I felt more together than I ever have before getting a needle (yeah, I'm a baby. Shut up). Luckily there was no waiting at the hospital, and they could take us right away. My uncle also had to get blood drawn, and there were two nurses, so they just took us at the same time. And I was okay and prepared. Until I sat down and waited for the nurse to prepare the needle. Long story short, I hyperventilated and passed out. The nurse also said I bumped my head against the wall and nearly slid out of the chair. My uncle saw the whole thing, and he told me that the nurse said I'd stopped breathing, but my pulse was still strong. I'd forgotten to tell them I'm a fainter, and that I should be lying down. Oddly, fainting this time was way scarier, because I didn't know where I was at first. For some reason, I thought I'd fallen asleep in school and got caught, so when they started talking to me, I didn't answer, because I was embarrassed. I wonder why.

The only other time I fainted was six years ago, and I was even more of a wreck then. I'm surprised that six years ago I fainted five minutes after the whole thing (I was waiting for my mom to get out of the bathroom, so we could go home, and then I crumpled to the floor). This time I never even made it out of the chair. Yes, I'm a wuss. I'm okay with it.

I've been playing a lot of Super Mario Advance 4-Super Mario Bros 3 lately. They changed some things, and I have no idea why. Whenever you beat a level, they say "Course Clear. You got a panel" instead of "you got a card." Also, whenever you get the magic wand back, the king says, "Splendid, splendid. I'm back to my old self again" instead of "Oh, thank heavens! I'm back to my old self again." I guess they don't want to imply the existence of an afterlife or some crap.

Blar. I should write something. Here is my week.

Sunday - Nathan and I saw Sloan. It was really not crowded at all, and I kind of felt bad that more people weren't there. This time the TLA had put down some tall tables and stools, which I'd never seen them do before, and we opted to sit down for the show rather than be super close to the stage. The opener was a band called The Kicks, and they were from Little Rock. I really liked them. Sloan was really cool, o' course. They played a lot of stuff from Action Pact, but my favorite songs of the night were "The Lines You Amend" and "I Am the Cancer". Oh, and apparently the US version of Action Pact has bonus tracks that the Canadian version (the one I have) doesn't. They played one of them, and I really liked it. I need to get hooked up with some mp3s. I originally wasn't too thrilled with Action Pact, but hearing so much of it live makes me like it more somehow. I finally picked up a copy of their music videos, and we got free parking in Philadelphia, so it was a good night.

Monday - We took David to the vet and got him medicine for his allergies. Also, that day was Dewey's second birthday, so we took him to PetSmart and bought him a present.

Tuesday - School had given me some paperwork saying I needed a physical, so I made an appointment for this day. Then I decided to call up school and see if it was really necessary. It turns out that they still had all my paperwork, so I didn't have to go, but I went anyway, thinking that it's a good idea to get a check up every once in a while. It went okay and the doctor gave me medicine and told me I could come back anyday except Friday for a blood test, and if I wanted to come Saturday I'd have to call ahead.

Wednesday - was kind of a waste, as fas as I can remember. But since I'm all scared of needles, I thought I should get the blood test out of the way, so I called and asked if I could come in Thursday, and they said okay, so I didn't eat for the rest of the night. Which is kind of hard, when you're always awake at night.

Thursday - I got up early to go to the doctor and then I get there and they tell me they can't take my blood, because the lab is closed. I was incredibly pissed, because I went to the trouble of calling less than 24 hours earlier to make sure it was okay. Grr. The rest of the day was just kind of horrible and disappointing.

Today - Meh. I helped Nathan get us TicketMaster tickets for the Pixies. I actually know very little about the Pixies, but I've heard that they are the best. The show isn't until December, so I'll have plenty of time to school myself. I do own two of their CDs that I never listened to. D'oh!

Tomorrow I try to have blood drawn again. Not at the doctors' office, though, because they're all booked up. I'll have to wake up early and go to the hospital to get it done.

On Sunday, we will see Neko Case and Erin, I presume.

Heh, this is one of my blog search referrals:

what is moosh pit on a concert

That's some bad wording, right there. I did use all of those words here and there in my writings, though. Except that, in my case, "moosh" wasn't a typo. Moosh is a winged bear that you can ride around on, in the Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages games. I {heart} Moosh.

Yesterday was my Uncle Bobby's wedding. It was nice, and I actually had a really fun time. I don't have much to say about it, but it was nice to see all of my cousins again. I say that like they all live far away, but they don't. I'd like to hang out with them more.
