You know what I hate?
Lots of things, but right now I'm talking about Livejournal commenting that only allows other livejournal users. "Hey, I don't care what you have to say, because you don't have a livejournal. And by the way, if you want a livejournal, you're going to have to know someone who already has one well enough to ask them to give you a code to get your own, or better yet, pay way too much money!" Haha, such a policy. Like it's some organization for the rich and/or popular. Oh man, I am seething with hate. Seething! I don't know what I hate more—the "pay or know someone" sign-up policy or the choice to only allow comments from other livejournal users. Growl, seethe, hiss.
Oh, and here's something else. If you pay for your livejournal, then you have too much goddamn money to waste. Holy shit.

This morning, while trying to fall asleep (after 8am), I was listening to WXPN. To my surprise, they played a song off of the new Aimee Mann album. It was called Humpty Dumpty, I think. That song is perfect for lying in bed and staring at the ceiling, which is exactly what I was doing at the time. About 20 minutes later, I saw a big bug flying around, so I grabbed the puppy and slept in another room. {g}

So I'm sitting here grumbling about my fall schedule. I'm just saddened, because the only reason I'll be in school for the next year is because I absolutely want to be. I could have graduated last May, but I chose not to for this minor. So I'm staying, and it's going to cost money for the first time, and I'm stuck with classes I don't necessarily want. If I could get a ride to school before 4, I could take what classes I want, volunteer at the school radio station, and maybe even make a little money through work study. {sigh} Take me to school, and I'll give you some bread. Please?

I'm feeling hateful. Today was bad all around. I guess there were just a bunch of little annoyances—people waking me up and not being able to fall back to sleep; someone trying to do something nice, but it only turns out to be something annoying that also interrupts my sleep; then me sleeping til 8:40 because of such things; bad phone reception; someone whose mind is already made up asking for my opinion, even though I know that person doesn't like it, because that person always prefers the option that involves the least work, which is probably why that person is where she or he is and doing what she or he is doing that she or he hates so much. See, I guess they're all small things, but I'm feeling less tolerant that usual, not that I'm very tolerant to begin with. Fuck this.
I hate how this is the second worst summer that I can recall, and at the same time, I'm dreading August, because it always means the end of the summer to me.

Oh, and you know what I just found out about that sucks? Greyhound no longer offers a companion fare discount from Atlantic City to New York City. Whenever someone would go with me to NYC, I'd get our tickets in advance, so that we could save money by getting one ticket free. No more, though. Now we'll each have to pay $26. Feh, and I was planning on going to NYC twice in August. Now I don't know.
And by the way, the companion fare discount from Philaelphia to NYC never existed. It costs $40 roundtrip, so I never go that way, obviously. I wish I knew of a cheaper way. The trains would take even more time and cost more money, so that's out of the question. Feh.

Buh. I was exhausted at 2 and fell right asleep. Then something woke me up at 4, and now I feel like I'm up for good. I'll probably try sleeping again, after I send this.
So yesterday, I saw Austin Powers 3. Not necessarily purposely. My uncle and I had to drop my aunt off at Atco, so we went to the movies afterward. We didn't much feel like waiting, so the choices were between Austin Powers 3, Men in Black II, and something else worse. It wasn't all bad. It did have some funny jokes, but it also had a lot of jokes that fell flat. I don't recommend it, unless you're a big fan of the other movies. I actually liked Beyonce. And I especially liked her compared to Elizabeth Hurley and Heather Graham. I think I was able to like her, because I was able to forget about her, um, music that I hate.
Today, after my last training session (the test is in a week, and I am skeered) I went and saw another movie. This time, also without checking the schedules in advance, my choices were Reign of Fire, Eight Legged Freaks, and Minority Report. Minority Report won out. I nearly saw it last month, but changed my mind at the last minute and didn't go to the movies. I really, really liked it. That's all I have to say about it, though.
I still need to see the Powerpuff Girls movie and Halloween Resurrection. Before you say anything about the latter, I don't really expect excellence from it. I just have an attachment to horror movies, and they don't make any, so I try to see what ones I can at the movies. I missed Jason X, alas. The difference is that I like the old Halloween movies, and even since I was six years old, I knew that the Friday the 13ths were dorky. I don't think I know anyone who'll see the Powerpuff movie with me. I guess my uncle might, but I don't know that he *wants* to. Bah.
It probably sounds like I see a lot of movies, but these were actually the third and fourth movies I've seen all year. The others were Spider-Man and Lilo and Stitch.
Yow, looking for library jobs in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area is a drag.

I saw Sloan tonight. :)
Let's see... first the bad. There were two openers, and I thought they had poor sound, because the levels on the mics were way too low and the levels on the guitars were way too high, so we couldn't understand them. I thought it was maybe their fault, but when Sloan came out, they had the same problem. I guess that's the TLA's fault. During the show, some guy told Chris Murphy that they should turn the mics up, and he just said something like, "we just play loud," I guess because he didn't know how hard to hear they were.
The show was supposed to start at 8, and we got there at about 7:45. We were only one person away from the stage. Dorothea counted maybe 40 people altogether, but it filled a lot more by the time Sloan came out.
Oh, but they were really awesome! After three years of being a fan, I finally got to see them, and it was a big deal for them to be right in front of me. I really liked it. Let's see, here are some songs they played, in no particular order...
The Other Man
Everything You've Done Wrong
I Hate My Generation
If It Feels Good Do It
In the Movies
The Great Wall
Coax Me
Your Dreams Will Come True
I Love a Long Goodbye
People of the Sky
Money City Maniacs
It's in Your Eyes
The Good in Everyone
but more importantly...
She Says What She Means
The Lines You Amend
I Am the Cancer
Iggy and Angus
The N.S.
Waiting for Slow Songs
So it was great. And Jay is great. ^_^ I wish they'd come around here more often. I took some pictures. Let's hope they come out. :)

Now Playing: Sloan-Navy Blues
Things...
My radio session thing went well, because he didn't ask us to do what we learned last week. Instead, he just went over stop sets, FCC rules, and transmitter stuff.
Oh ho, and get this, on the 8:30pm Hollywood Squares, Paul Lynde, of course, was there, but guess who else! Tony Randall! Tony Randall is important to me. The first time I ever went to NYC, it was to see him and Jack Klugman in a play. It was majorly awesome. I've liked Tony Randall for years now. It was great that he was on the show, but it was also sort of a letdown. I mean, Tony was a stone cold drag. He got two questions. He answered both correctly, but no jokes, no banter. I wonder why. He's usually so great with that stuff. You know who else was good with that? Vincent Price. Really.
My mom and uncles are on vacation, so last night, Uncle John, Harry, Marji, Christopher, and I went to Atlantic City. We didn't walk around much, we mostly stayed in the casinos, especially, Uncle John, Marji, and I. Harry took Christopher to an arcade for a while, since he's only nine and isn't even allowed on the casino floor. The casinos have an assload of themed slotmachines... I Dream of Jeannie, $25,000 Pyramid, Price Is Right, the Game of Life, Monopoly, they used to have Betty Boop. There are lots and lots more that aren't TV or game-related. I was looking to spend/waste a little money, and I am a crazy weirdo, since I only wanted to put money into a slotmachine with a theme that's important to me. So I blew $10 in some lame Halloween (the day, not the movie, but both are important to me) quarter slots, and I lost it right away. Marji, who won a lot of money in weird unicorn and Addams Family nickel slots, told me that there were Hollywood Squares slots. I was excited til I found out that they were the NEW Hollywood Squares, so I didn't much bother, aside from using some nickels that I had in my change. Whoopi, Bruce, and Co. say stuff during the game, and you can play tic-tac-toe if the right symbol comes up in the right place. It was actually kind of neat. But before I saw those, when I thought we were leaving, I thought I'd put about $5 into the new Bewitched nickel slots. I was never a fan of the show, but the wonderful Paul Lynde was in it (so now I intend to watch). I am a superstitious nerdmonkey, so I had to give it a shot, because the whole night I was thinking that there should be some kind of Paul Lynde-related slots (yeah, yeah, everything in the world is about Paul Lynde to me. Shut up, unless you like him, too {g}), and this was the closest there was. Like I say, I meant to put in $5, because I was all bent out of shape over losing the last $10. I had no $5 bill, so I used a $10 bill (which is a BAD way to gamble, and you should never do it!). The first $5 of the ten I put in went pretty fast. Then I got my original $20 back plus $60 more! :) It was my first positive gambling experience ever. I'm not at all a big gambler. I maybe put in a couple dollars, when I'm there, and I don't always do that. Aside from last night, I don't think I ever spent more than $25 altogether. The point, my friends, is this: Paul Lynde helped me win $60. {g}
I'm almost embarrassed at how many times I've mentioned him in the past week on this thing.
I said "almost." {g}

Blaaaah. I think I need a new portable CD player. I was listening to Bargainville (which I hadn't listened to in maybe over a year, and it's a damn fine album) on mine the other night. So I go to listen to it again tonight, and I notice that it has little scratches on the bottom. It'll play in some CD players (like my CD burner) and not in others (like my old CD-ROM). This has happened before with another CD, but I thought it was already scratched when I got it. That never happened until that time the little CD player fell on the floor. I guess that threw something out of alignment? Oh well, I made a copy of Bargainville just in case of whatever. My old portable CD player was probably like 6 years old and really sensitive. I mean, I couldn't even pick it up without it skipping like crazy, and I needed a good excuse to get a new one anyway. I can get a decent one for $30-40, but I don't want to put out the money. Whine bitch whine.
I need to get an envelope for a CD, so I can mail it this afternoon. I should check and see if I have any. I believe I do. I also need to stop at the library this afternoon and drop off an application. Oh please give me the strength to get up at 3:30 today.

Aw, man. Today was also a not-so-good day. I set my clock for noon, and got up and turned it off, then went back to sleep. I got up after 6, got ready, and went to school. Someone hAwad booked the production room for the rest of the evening. If I'd gotten there by one or two, I could have used it. Dumbass me. So my uncle and I ate dinner and came home. Then I finished my big giant Paul Lynde collage that is now my desktop. I wish I had the ability to get up, when I should. If I had class or something today, I would have gotten up, but since it was my own idea to go to school, I couldn't. Training is tomorrow, so I'll go there, and he'll tell me to do something, and I won't be able to, since I got no practice this week. Bah.

Today feels like such a wasted day. Nathan left, and I didn't even go with him to the bus station. Instead I slept til 9:30 tonight. I had signed out the production studio at my school's radio station to practice using things before the next training session (Monday), but I couldn't get myself up for it. I guess I'll have to force myself to go early tomorrow and see what's available.
Last night, Craig fixed my CD-ROM, so now I can use it once again. He also put in the old harddrive and CD-ROM from my other computer into this one. Then we played Risk. I had never played Risk in my whole life. I damn near owned Asia, but I never threw Craig out of Japan, and I was constantly battling Nathan for Siam. Bly. I wanna play again, but I won't do better, and it just makes me hateful. {g}
I had all kinds of crazy dreams this afternoon. The kind where the people and locations are constantly changing. First I went to the mall with Dorothea and Alyssa, and we went to a Friendly's which looked more like a bar, and where Bill Cosby was our absent-minded waiter. I told them that we should drive a couple hours away from here and go to that store that DaVinci's Notebook owns. I said, "it's really fun, and they're all in their 40's and don't care if they make money off of it." So we went there, minus Alyssa, somehow. They were selling books, CDs, children's toys, and bikinis (I nearly bought a yellow bikini, which I assure you would never happen. I hate yellow! Haha, no really. {g}). I talked about how DaVinci's Notebook was friends with Moxy Fruvous, then I saw that Jian was in the store. Then all of a sudden, I was with Marji and Patti, and we left the store to walk across the big sandy lot to a circus tent to see DVN perform. There were only three of them, and they were all playing percussion instruments, while Shakira sang. So we left right away, of course. {g} The rest was really weird. We were living in Montana or Alberta or someplace, and it was just big and open. Marji went off to marry someone form DVN (I don't know who, since they weren't the same people), who was a fisherman. They moved away to where he lived. I lived with Patti, who was also courting someone from DVN. She made me clean the house all day. It was always dark and cold, and I don't know if we had electricity. Then Patti married the guy, and I married the last guy from DVN, who turned out to be Mike Ford. Oh, and they were all supposed to be brothers, and I think we were all sisters. ???
The other night, I had dreams about Bob and David. In one, Nathan and I walked into a place where David Cross was performing. And in the other, I went to see them with sarah and erin, in a classroom. We sat on the floor eating big douighnuts. Well, sarah and I had doughnuts, erin didn't want one or something. {g}
Yesterday morning, I found out that the old Hollywood Squares comes on the Game Show Network about four times a day. I was all jazzed about it, because I thought I could greatly increase my daily Paul Lynde viewing, but alas, they show the same episode everyday. Last night's 8:30pm episode was the same as the 3:30am episode which was also today's 11:30am episode. I knew right away from the captain hat Mel Brooks was wearing. As I recall, "the handsome Paul Lynde," as that flight attendant lady called him, got only two questions, but the quality won out over quantity. {g} I missed tonight's 8:30 show, but I'm fairly sure it's what they'll show at 3:30.
Speaking of Paul Lynde and stuff, Nathan and I watched Charlotte's Web the other day. I think I like that movie more and more everytime I see it. Yesterday, we tried to buy Bye Bye, Birdie, but couldn't find it. We also couldn't find and buy the Mr. Show DVDs, but that's not related to Paul Lynde, so far as I know.
Ha, about an hour ago, I saw on MTV News, a bunch of people complaining about how much that band Crazytown sucks. They do, but I think these people mean for the wrong reasons. Whenever I hear that one song, I think of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, whom I also hate. But yeah, it was funny hearing people say how bad they were at Ozzfest. Even a few of the Osbournes complained about them, but that was for begging to be booked on the tour, then not showing up.
Now I think I'd like some candy, but I don't know that we have any. This post was all over the map.

I swiped this link to a list of albums you should throw out from Tavie's blog.
I just wanna say, "eww." I find that snotty indeed. I admit I criticize a lot of people's music, so I'm a hypocrite for thinking this is just pseudo-(music)intellectual sludge. But maybe I wouldn't be so pissy about it, if there were no Ben Folds or XTC on the list.
By the by, if you're curious, I own four of those albums, and I'm making a copy of another one.

You know what's tricky? Giving a hamster a bath. I just finished doing that. Really, I was afraid to use soap, because I thought it might hurt her, if she licked it off, so I just used warm water. She did most of the work herself. I'd put a wet cloth around her and she'd crawl through. She looked ugly wet, but yeah, I hoped that helped.
Speaking of krazy animals. Last night, I dreamt that Craig's family had a black and tan dachshund, and it bit everyone. Even them. It bit me, too. Our dogs just bite some people, not everyone. {g}

Aw man, sometime yesterday morning, the power went out. I had left my computer on, and so it got turned off the wrong way. Now it won't recognize my CD-ROM. This happened before, when a thunderstorm turned off the power, but Craig fixed it. Now, my Rufus Wainwright CD is trapped inside, and I want to get it out and burn CDs and stuff. Aghaghagh. A lot of crap happens to my computers, but in a sense, I'm lucky, because Craig always managed to fix things, which is indeed kind and appreciated. See? I said it.

What I did on my anniversary with Nathan.
We met in Philadelphia and took a cab to Eastern State Penitentiary and took a tour. I've always had an odd fascination for jails, so this was really neat for me. The place had been built in the 1800's and closed in the 70's, so the historical society was giving tours of it. Since it closed, it fell into disrepair and wasn't up to building odes, so we had to sign a waver and wear hardhats. All the proceeds went to buying new roofs for the buildings. It was great, we saw Al Capone's cell and the baseball diamond and death row (although no one was executed there, they just held people there then bussed them out to be executed), and the hole. The tour went by quickly, but it was awesome. I want to go back. Then we had dinner at an Italian cafe, and I had what was probably the best ravioli I've ever eaten. After that we got dessert at a neat cafe called the Painted Parrot. The mocha tort was amazing. Then we went back home and Mark came over. We played Parcheesi and Mark won, then we watched the commentary on my UHF DVD. This was the first time I'd ever sat through all of the commentary of a movie. Oh, and Nathan gave me a pretty necklace and earrings and a Weird Al CD and Rufus Wainwright's first CD.

Another quick thing I meant to post earlier...
I had a dream where erika, Jim K, Jamal, Colleen, Nathan, and I went to a Denny's for lunch. We ordered a basket of corn muffins (as if they really sell those at Denny's), and I was mad, because they had raisins in them, so I couldn't have any. The whole thing took six hours, because the waiter was ignoring us, and I refused to touch my food, until I had my honey mustard. Three hours into the waiting, erika, Jim, and Jamal got impatient and decided to sit in the car (I never even knew whose car we came in), but Nathan and Colleen stayed.
I guess it's worth posting, because everyone who was there has a link. {g}

Here's something I meant to blog on what?... July 2nd. I'll write it as if it just happened, and you can pretend that I posted it last week.
Tonight, Dorothea and I meant to go see Spider-Man at the movies, because it's super and she hasn't yet seen it. That, however, didn't happen. We got to the movies, and the girl said that Spider-Man was having "technical difficulties," and there'd be no showings tonight and it'd move to the theatre across the street tomorrow. It was 10 o'clock at night, so we had to decide what to do fast. We ended up seeing Lilo and Stitch.
A quick word about that. When I first heard about the movie in February or sometime around then, I thought it looked like rubbish. I knew Kevin McDonald would be in it, but I still figured I'd never see it. By the time it had opened, I still had no intention of seeing it. About a week ago, I was watching a show on the Disney Channel called Zoog Moviesurfers or something like that. It's a show that's disguised as a film critique show like that Siskelebert guy (no, I do not acknowledge Roper) or my friend Leonard Maltin. What it is, however, is a big fat advertisement. It worked out like this.
Girl: The surfing sequences in Lilo and Stitch were so cool that it made me want to learn more about surfing, so I went to Hawaii and spoke to the guy who inspired the surfing theme.
{insert remote segment with that guy teaching her to surf}
Boy: All the Elvis music in Lilo and Stitch made me want to learn more about The King, so I went to Graceland to find out more.
{insert boy taking tour of Graceland}
Someone else: The A-Teens sang an awesome version of Elvis's "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You"
{insert yucky video clip}
Then the "band" comes out and talks about how awesome it all is.
So yeah, I watched this thing and it made me mad. At the same time, though, it served its purpose, and I thought to myself, "yeah, I'd see Lilo and Stitch." Then I did. And okay, I was wrong! I really dug the movie. I think it was cute and pretty and funny, and I liked the Elvis music. And of course, hearing Kevin is always awesome, and he was extra good in this. So yeah, I liked it. I also liked that it cost me only five bucks to see a movie at nighttime since I had a student ID. From now on, I will only see movies in Deptford.
